My work is rooted in the visual language of everyday life. I draw inspiration from commonplace objects and experiences, a flower, a bottle, a bowl, a patterned shirt, a shop window display, magazine pages, typography, aspects of landscape and nature and use these elements as entry points into compositions that explore potential narrative, symbolism, motif, pattern, spatial dynamics and colour relationships. Through the arrangement and juxtaposition of these images I explore how context, design and form can evoke more than the objects themselves.
My painting process balances structure with spontaneity, incorporating drips, splashes, and gestural marks to introduce rhythm and unpredictability. These fluid elements counterbalance the more deliberate aspects of my compositions, creating harmony between order and intuition.
