Abbie Canning

Abbie Canning is an artist, educator, independent curator and producer with over 20 years’ experience working across the creative sector. Her interdisciplinary practice spans a wide range of media and is rooted in socially engaged projects, often bringing digital technologies into dialogue with analogue art and craft. Alongside her own practice, she has extensive experience delivering projects across education, health and community settings in the UK and internationally.

Canning’s work frequently reconfigures familiar objects, images and situations to create moments of surprise, humour or absurdity. Interested in the traces we leave behind and the passage of time, she uses an economy of language and playful shifts in perception to interrupt the everyday, inviting viewers to pause, look again and reconsider what they think they recognise.
