Amanda Graham

Amanda is a Derbyshire-based jeweller working from her workshop at Haarlem Mill, where she hand-fabricates jewellery from flat steel sheet. Drawing on her background as a scientist, she takes an experimental approach to materials and processes, drilling, sawing, forming and enamelling each piece without pre-made components. Her work explores the possibilities of steel alongside jewellers’ enamel, controlled rusting and other materials, with her investigations increasingly extending beyond jewellery into sculpture.

Her work is informed by the landscapes and industrial histories of Derbyshire, particularly quarrying, decay and the processes of renewal found in disused industrial sites. Increasingly, she reflects on climate change, conflict and the impact of environmental stress on mental health, using rust, recycled textiles and ethically sourced materials to explore ideas of resilience, regeneration and value. Sustainability is central to her practice, with metals reused wherever possible and a commitment to minimising waste.
