Tricia Rice
Tricia Rice is an artist whose identity as a collector and keeper of things is central to her practice. Inspired by the historical cabinets of curiosities, she gathers, curates and photographs collections of objects connected by memory, place and association. Her work explores the stories held within everyday things, revealing relationships between objects and celebrating the collective beauty of the assemblage.
Much of Rice’s work draws on objects collected while beachcombing along the British coastline, with each collection reflecting something of the place and moment in which it was found. Working particularly with found plastic, she uses humour and playfulness to transform discarded and seemingly disconnected fragments into new arrangements, narratives and connections, giving overlooked objects a renewed sense of meaning.
